This cabin is in the most perfect location!! It is almost like you can reach out and touch the river. That is how close it is!! And we walked downriver and never once saw a person or another cabin. It was the perfect place to unwind without any interruptions from the outside world. The hot tub and the fire pit were awesome also. Couldn’t have asked for more!! Thanks for sharing your family home! We are already making plans for spring! I also want to give gift cards to my parents so they can enjoy this cabin! VRBO, do you have gift certificates??

This cabin was exactly as described and we couldn’t have been more pleased! How lucky we were when a last minute cancellation allowed us the opportunity to stay here. My daughter was discharged from a lengthy hospital stay the day before Thanksgiving and this cabin provided us the peace and serenity we needed to start healing as a family. The cabin was stocked well enough for me to prepare a full Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings; including homemade pies. I appreciated the thoughtfulness that went into making our stay welcoming. What one reviewer mentioned as clutter, I thought made the cabin more interesting and the microwave has been moved onto a cart so it is no longer too high for anyone to reach. I loved having access to a movie collection, gaming system, books, board games and we played numerous rounds of checkers. In addition fishing poles were available that we put to use. I felt like we showed up with our suitcase and groceries and everything else was provided. In addition it was nice for my teens to have a newer flat screen TV and wifi so they still felt connected while in a secluded hideaway. The master bed was extremely comfortable and the kids had no complaints about their beds either. This is not a sparkling, chic resort. If you are looking for granite counters, stainless appliances and high end finishes, this cabin is not for you. It did however, have enough modern amenities and plenty of space that we were able to spread out while enjoying our time together. It had a true cabin feel and the surroundings outdoors were remarkable. We hiked, fished, sat in the hot tub, explored water falls, sat by the fire, made s’mores, got in the river (which is steps from the back door) and enjoyed the sweet sounds of nature. The screened porches are wonderful! It was everything we needed and more than we had hoped for! Laura was very accommodating and her attention to detail was seen throughout the cabin. Thanks for a holiday, weekend retreat that we will never forget!

This cabin and surroundings exceeded our expectations. We were looking for privacy, hiking out the door and riverfront. We do not fish and did not use the hot tub but it didn’t matter, everything else put it over the top for us! The cabin itself was very interesting and spotless. There are so many neat things to look at and had a true cabin feel to it. We had not one complaint and already are wanting to book for another season. You cannot put a price on the setting, we are very fortunate that the owner makes it available for others to enjoy.

We stayed for a few nights recently and enjoyed this little cabin so much. It has such a personality in the way it is decorated (each room had a different theme). The owner had very specific directions, so we were able to find it without any problems and had instructions on how to work, use, and find everything which made our stay very simple. The cabin was equipped with everything we needed and wifi and cable never gave us any problems. We picked up our groceries before we got there, so we never left the cabin throughout our stay. The river was the best thing about this place. You can hear it as you drive up and it is directly outside. It was so peaceful to go out there and fish as well. We enjoyed the fire pit immensely and grilled out. The only thing we didn’t get to take advantage of was the hot tub, but it was in the perfect location with a river view. The fireplace was a great source of entertainment for our son to watch and kept us nice and warm. There are hiking trails around as well. The weather was beautiful and we took so many pictures of the leaves and trees around us. I highly recommend this property and am already thinking about booking again for next year. Side note, this owner is also very prompt about getting back to you which meant a lot to me as we booked this place with very little notice.

We stayed right after Christmas for our first vacation over 2 nights in over 7 years. We loved that it was still decorated for Christmas since we left home on Christmas night and we have a 4 year old daughter she loved the tree and it still felt like the holidays! The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed (except a thermometer since my daughter caught a cold while we were there) It would be nice to have a good first aid kit there just in case We all 3 stayed in the bear room and the bed was super comfortable and big! The fireplace was so nice and kept the cabin nice and warm. I also really liked that when we got there the fireplace was on low and there was a small heater that was turned on so it was very welcoming. We did some hiking around the property which was really nice and beautiful, also tried to fish but didnt see any fish while we were there at the cabin or other places we tried (maybe it was to cold?) We loved the fact that the cabin in directly on the river and we really enjoyed the hot tub. We will definitely keep this cabin in mind for any future trips to this area. I think it would be a great spot to go to during the summer as well to tube and fish in the river.

First off, let me start by saying I needed a Christmas vacation alternative because the cabin I had rented did not work out. Richard and his wife were able to, not only accommodate my better half and I, but was able to do it all on Christmas Eve. Without a doubt an amazing experience overall. We showed up to the cabin at 5 am. Terrible mood from work then driving. Walked in and we were amazed. The decorations and the home itself really brings you to another world. Very calm, I could hear the river as I neared the back door. It was very cold outside, but definetly worth breathing in the fresh mountain air. Let me just say, it’s an experience to sit in the hut tub while overseeing the Toccoa River and it’s relaxing sound. There was so much room in the cabin. We didn’t need it but we definitely could’ve had some friends or family tag along without any issues whatsoever. We caught about 6 rainbow trouts. There’s nothing like eating fresh caught fish. Two thumbs up from each one of us. We will stay again several times throughout the year. I look forward to my next getaway here. Thank you  for helping us out. Eddy and Linh

My wife and I stayed at Paradise River Retreat in mid-December. The cabin offered a perfect location for my wife and I to unwind after a busy semester of school and work. Located directly beside the Toccoa River and a small tributary creek, the sounds of the water were a calming addition to an already serene environment. While the cabin is perfectly located for a great family summer vacation, its warm fireplace and spacious hot tub also make it an ideal location to spend a winter holiday. We enjoyed sipping cocoa by the fire and snuggling in during the cold days. I would highly recommend this cabin if you need a getaway any season of the year. My wife and I will definitely return for another visit.

after one of the most trying months of our 18 years together we decided we really just needed to get away from it all. when we found the paradise retreat iy looked like it would be a nice getaway.. well little did we know it would be the MOST PERFECT RETREAT WE WOULD EVER FIND!!!! it was truly a slice of heaven! no cell phone reception, sounds of the river from EVERY ROOM IN THE CABIN! we had no interruption and basically no neighbors, i felt as if i had climbed the highest mountain and was alone in the world to collect my thoughts and re-center from all the distractions the world sends in daily! my husband and i travel 4-5 times a year but i will never look again for another place when i need to just get away from it all. Whether it be roasting smores by the fire pit, reading books by the fire place, relaxing in the hot tub , fishing or tubing in the river or just snoozing with the sounds of the river i have it all at the paradise retreat! it truly is a must see to believe. WE WILL BE BACK EVERY YEAR!!!!!

Sometimes you just need to get away from it all and reconnect with each other and the nature around you., and this cabin is the perfect place to do just that! It was so cozy and welcoming and everything we needed was already there( except food of course).I especialy liked the 4 poster bed upstairs and the claw foot tub, but it’s the peace and quite of the forest and the rushing sound of the river that indeed make this a special place. Thank you Richard and Laura for sharing your cabin with us. It was everything we hoped it would be and more! We hope to make a trip to “Paradise” a yearly tradition. Nancy & Kenny

We have stayed at many cabins in the North Georgia & Tennessee Mountains; but none quite like this! Most cabins lack the personality and welcoming feeling of Paradise River Retreat, it truly feels like staying at a friends home. They have thought of everything you need to have an incredible stay. Every detail has been thought of…Light switches labeled …inventory with the locations of the kitchen utensils… and enough towels and linens to cover a small army. They have done an amazing job at making their cabin feel like your home too. The location is breath taking … we were fortunate enough to have 5 inches of snowfall while at the cabin… words cannot describe the view from the porch!!! The weekend was more than we could have expected and we will be back many times. The pictures and descriptions do not due justice to this cabin and the property…there is just a special feeling about this place that you must truly see yourself to appreciate!!! Again… Thank you for a wonderful weekend….we can’t wait to do it again!!!!!

You never know what to expect when you reserve a cabin online, of course your hopes are always high that it will be just as nice as the pictures and descriptions. Sometimes sadly that is not always the case. However, you will not be disappointed with Paradise River Retreat! This is truly a perfect place! I just cant say enough about the true beauty of the location of the cabin sitting right on the waters edge. There is no more peaceful sound in the world to me than rushing water. My husband and celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary at this lovely cabin. Everything we needed was right at hand! The cabin itself is very comfortable and cozy and clean! Three very important C’s to me! The lovely rock fireplace and comfy reclining sofa and love seat were awesome! Our 17 year old daughter and 11 year old son also went up with us……we never even turned the TV on until late the last day. We roasted marshmallow’s in the firepit by the River, cooked on the grill, had our morning coffee while relaxing in the Large Hot Tub overlooking the beautiful Toccoa River and just walked in the magnificent woods that surrounded this private paradise. Richard and Laura were both a pleasure to work with and our family looks forward to staying here again! Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin with us. We made memories here that will last a lifetime!

Well… strange this happened while we were here this time!  Things like: the four teenagers including seven year old in many hours of Monopoly.  Even more strange, the kids taking turns doing the dishes!

We floated the river three out of our days, the kids fished and I got to spend many hours reading.  Being a Georgia Master Gardener, I had to restrain myself from playing in the dirt!!! Thanks, once again for sharing your special place with us!

Couldn’t wait to get here – and was in heaven when we did.  My husband and I just spent our first anniversary here and hopefully started a wonderful tradition.  When we drove up to the cabin, I couldn’t wait to get out of the car…. It is so perfectly tucked away and beautiful.  This was also our first time spent away from our 6 month old little girl, and though I missed her, I had such an amazing time with my husband.  On the first day we tubed to Rock Creek bridge and attempted to hike back next to river – Take the road! Ha!  Second day spent on a rental pontoon at lake Blue Ridge.  Beautiful!  Third Day  – white water with Ocoee outdoors – Ask for Higgens as your guide – he made the trip so wonderful – now packed and ready to leave – I’m sad, but excited to bring our daughter soon – thank you so much… This was everything we needed and more.

8/28/2011

Words can’t describe!  We enjoyed our 2 days here so much!  We don’t want to leave.  We will be back.  Our friend had a great time for her bachelorette weekend.  Until next time.

Your Paradise River Retreat is just that – a wonderful retreat!  From start to finish, it was even more than we’d expected.  The restful beauty and quiet surrounding’s we enjoyed – The cabin is very well “stocked”, clean & very comfortable.  It will offer good memories for us, with appreciation, until we return.
